There have been three times in my life thus far that I’ve snuck out from my folks house…

Here are my stories.

McDamn It’s Late.

This must had to have been last year during winter break, or spring break, some sort of break. I remember playing Saints Row 3 with Bryan that night back when we were still friends. Anthony was there too, but if I remember he was gaming on COD or Netflixing it up. Anyways, I’d say it was about 1 or 2 in the morning when somebody mentioned how hungry they were. Anthony was like I got cash, let’s get it. Next thing I know, I’m waiting for Bryan to pull up to my place and we set off. You have to understand that my house always had motion detection lights and go off at all times of the night. So the fear in my mind increased as I walked across the driveway and the light is blaring on my back. Regardless, I climbed into his Mini Cooper in my PJ’s and Slippers and off we go. We pick up Anthony, but not before Bryan successfully scare the heejeebees out of him. I still remember pulling up to McD’s and listening to Bryan ordering all the food with a fat asian accent. Double Cheeseburgers and McChickens. Anthony’s food for a while since his parents were out of town. After we dropped him off the ride back to mine was pretty quiet. Until about the end, we talked a bit about girls, life. Then it was back to SR3 for a bit till I passed out. Good night.

I don’t like this story. It haunts me. Reminds me that maybe going out late at night isn’t the best idea. My parents beefed up the security between the last story and this one. There’s now cameras watching the house 24/7. Along with the lights. My face is super visible if they ever checked. This was back when I had my ‘81 Corolla. It was loud. In a spur of the moment type deal, a few of my friends wanted to hang out and take pictures. We decided to meet a few minutes away from my house, at the grocery store parking lot. I had to pick up Henry first. As I pushed my car away from the front of my house, I hoped that they wouldn’t hear me startup. As I turned it over, the silence of the night was replaced with that awful sound of the 4 cylinder with the exhaust leak. I was gone so quick. Over to pick up Henry, as he started running down the street as I pulled up. Onwards to the grocery store, as we both snuck out. Waiting for everyone else to show up, we sat and listened to music as the car was off. Bad idea. Tried to turn the car over after a few minutes. Nothing. David, Erick, and Mackenzie eventually showed up. Nobody was really in the mood to help me out with a jumpstart. And it was a shame that it wasn’t a manual. So David and Henry set off to get jumper cables from Henry’s house. I’m sitting in the lot with Erick and Mackenzie, they’re kinda getting close. She has him go off to get her a shake. I’m left with her. Kinda just awkwardly chatting it up. Everybody eventually comes back. I’m up and running again. At this point, I shoulda gone straight home. I was 3 minutes from my house. Henry could of rode with David, since Henry lived closer to David, and not close to me. But instead, I chose to drive Henry home. David went home. Erick and Mackenzie started to go home. I made it to about a street away from Henry’s before it died again. He started to get out and push as cars drove by. We had one speedbump to go over. It was horrible for Henry. We tried phoning both David and Erick. Erick ended up agreeing to come back. Another jump, and I just said fuck it. I’m gonna floor it home, thats the only thing I can do. I made it about halfway before dieing again. There was nobody to call this time. I tried flagging down cars, no luck. Standing in the middle of the street until a cop pulled up and told me to get out of the street. He pushed me into a parking lot and jumped me, then took off. Another chance to gun it as far as I could. I had about two long straightaways to go. Gunning it down the first, I made it to the end, then another dead car. I had no other options. I phoned a girl I was still close with at the time. It was 4am. She had just woken up, and was nice enough to come out to where I was, since it was down the street from her. She didn’t know where her jumper cables were though. We ended up driving back to my house, sneaking back in, finding the cables, then going back to my car, and jumping it. At the time, my car didn’t lock either. And the guy across the street came out and starting talking to me. Why? Couldn’t tell ya. My car is sputtering to life once and hopefully for the last time. I told her straight up “I’m going to drive as fast as I can, and if it dies again I’m going to need another tow.” My foot is on the gas, no headlights at this point, blindly driving up and down hills, past two stoplights. There were still cars and even pedestrians on this road. That must have been a sight. My view was blurring out, right until it died for the final time. However…I live at the bottom of a hill. I died..right..on..top. Popped that bitch into neutral and rolled all the way back to right in front of my house. Best feeling of my life. Crept back inside and laid down for a moment. My body was tense. But it was over.

Tonight I took off for a few hours to make a trade with a guy who lived half an hour away. I picked up my friend David and we set off. I was hoping it wouldn’t be like last time we hung out late at night. We’re shooting the shit for a while, I’m noticing my phones gonna die so I pass him off the number of the guy we’re gonna meet. As I’m driving to his house my phone dies, so I try to recall the address in my mind. We’re driving in this eerily neighborhood, no streetlights, hard to read house numbers. I stop in the middle of the culdesac and ring him up. He says I parked right in the middle, and that its behind me. So I turn around and pull up. His driveway is packed with cars. I pulled my knife from my smugglers box and hopped out. It’s hard to see anything. I called out a few times, waiting to hear something. Finally the clanging of doors and a shadowy figure walking towards me. I’m trading a bunch of shit for some STI Rims. After the ice was broken it flowed a lot better. I got the rims, showed him the phones booted up, and we split. I talked a little shit as we were leaving with my windows down, but boo hoo. We grabbed some Oreo Shakes and I dropped him off, then carried all the rims into my house. Trying not to get noticed of course, as I banged them into everything imaginable I swear…
